work update

hey everybody. i found out that when i am in the bush (starting monday), my internet access will be limited, to say the least. i think emails will be the best way to contact me because i probably won't have much time to play on facebook. so please PLEASE start sending me emails to give me something to look forward to. i'll let you know more about my site as soon as i do and can relay it on to all of you. also, i am buying a digital camera tomorrow or the next day (a fujifilm s700 i think!), so i will hopefully send/post as many pictures as i can.
keep in touch! show me love.

Farewell!

It's summer! Finally.
Too bad we can't be friends.
I'm going to work in BC for a geological company with my father
Somewhere near Taseko Lake (maybe 2 hours from Vancouver Island?)
And then in September I'll be back in Edmonton for another year at Grant MacEwan
Taking the Performance program on the upright bass.

Team Captain is on a 3 month hiatus
But come September, we will be stronger than ever
AND we will be releasing our 4 song EP around the same time

This summer I 'hope' to have access to the internet
Whilst working hard in bush-country
I will have my laptop
Thus, myspace/facebook/email me.

Show

*Movie Annoucer Voice Over Narration

Four men. One roof. In a quaint little suburb of Edmonton, Alberta. On Friday, March 9th, starting at 7:30pm. Come and see the all ages, acoustic, solo performances of Graham Tilsley and Calvin McElroy of Team Captain, Eamon McGrath, and Doug Hoyer.

(It's my first real acoustic-solo show ever. I have done talent nights, played at the exhibition, variety nights, coffeehouses, but never more than two songs at a time. I'm nervous.

I'm also doing a cover of Postal Service - This Place is a Prison)

New Toys

Upright bass - I bought one. I still have to do some work on it, but it's pretty darn good. I need to buy a bow for it, and an acoustic-image amplifier.
MBox2Mini Interface - Came with ProTools and some other software.
iPod - 30GB video iPod. I am already accessorizing. I have an arm band so that I can go running at the gym. I rule.
My Visa is nearly all paid off.
I almost feel infinite.

“…It is necessary for everyone to listen to another voice. That voice may not be accepted, but it serves to question, even to strengthen, the creative process. No one should be afraid of it. - George Martin

Update

Team Captain (www.myspace.com/werteamcaptain) has some shows booked in Edmonton on February 24th at the Velvet Underground and February 28th at the Sidetrack Cafe.

*Side note: The band four guys in TC have been hired as a backing band for a pop-rock singer. We get paid rehearsals, paid gigs and paid studio times. Also, Team Captain has been approached by the pop-singer's Manager to record for free at the studio he is associated with SO that we (TC) can get air-time on Sonic as their "band-of-the-month" (one of the biggest rock-radio stations in Edmonton) and for shows too (we will also have a real demo out then too!). The manager has also been dropping hints to us, basically saying that if TC is doing better than the pop project, he will ditch her and take us. Sweet, hey? I'm pretty excited.
We will have some real photos up on our myspace, and a real website pretty soon too.

Pendulum

Don't try to pull that
Sentiment on me
(I hope you know that
I'm not listening)
If all we are
Is what we were
Then I don't want to
Be here anymore
(I hope you know
You're wasting my memory)

And you said, "Remember
We caught the pendulum"

But I can't hear you now
I can't see behind your guarded smiles
I can't hear you now

Is it wrong of me
To see the marks you leave?
(I only hope you
Cover up your sleeves)
It bothers me to see that
You don't wipe them clean
(I only hope
I cannot hear your screams)
